Wonder Woman - Review

Not many knew Gal Gadot before her major role as Wonder Woman which she did an amazing job in playing. Wonder Woman is an American superhero film based on the DC Comics of the same character and is the second live action theatrical film featuring the character following her debut in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The film was directed by Patty Jenkins making her the first female director of a studio superhero comic book live-action theatrical release film. The movie also stars the likes of Chris Pine, Robin Wright, David Huston and Elena Anaya. Development for the film originally began in 1996 but Jenkins would only sign on to direct in 2015 with filming taking place in the United Kingdom, France and Italy. Principal photography had begun on November 21, 2015 and everything was coincidentally concluded on May 9, 2016, the 123rd birthday of the creator, William Moulton Marston.

More filming took place in November 2016 for additions to the film. Wonder Woman premiered in Shanghai on May 15, 2017, and was released in the United States on June 2, 2017, in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D. Besides setting numerous box office records such as the highest grossing film by a woman, and the largest opening for a female-led comic book movie, the film received largely positive reviews across the board including 92% from Rotten Tomatoes.

It has grossed over $766 million worldwide, making it the fourth highest-grossing film of 2017. The movie was award winning at the Golden Trailer Awards and has been nominated in numerous categories for the Teen Choice Awards. It's easy for me to endorse Wonder Woman as a must see movie as it is definitely one of the best films I've watched this year.
