Enjoy :)

Dolce Vita and Co - Review

Today I want to tell you about a austrian series that everyone knows in the country and which you should know about it too:

Dolce Vita and Co.

It is about a father called Mario Hubinger. He has a great wife who works a lot and three kids who a great and sometimes cheeky too.
One day Mario wants to change his life and doesn't want to be a "houseman" anymore. So he wants to join his fathers italian restaurant. When his italian mother was still alive the restaurant was a great Trattoria, but years later it is totally shabby.
But that is not a reason for Mario and so he starts to get into that business. But it is not that easy as it sounds:
his father Hans wants to sell the restaurant. Somehow his son could convinced him not to sell it.

And so the fun of having a restaurant starts. But as fun comes trouble comes too. Because Mario doens't have enough money to invest into the restaurant he gets money from a russian mafia. Was that really a good decision?
But that is not only the thing that goes wrong... Him and his wife are starting to have some trouble too.

Will that be an issue for starting the restaurant?
I guess you have to watch what will happen next in the life of the family Hubinger :-)

In Austria the series is famous for its humour, its stars and its viennese charme. You will find a lot of famous austrian stars like Michael Niavarani, Christoph Fälbl, Reinhard Novak or Ulrike Beimpold. And with them you will know for sure it will be a lot of fun to watch them in this series.

If you get a little bit interested you can watch the first episode right here.

In Austria the series was very popular and the whole country was very sad, when they quit the show. But it is always good, that there are DVD's so we can always watch it. Even today, 14 years later, the television likes to show it from time to time and all Austria is still watching. We miss the series, but we are glad to have the series on DVD :-)

Get a little taste of Vienna and the series and enjoy it!

Anna & the Love - Review

Today I want tell you about a german series where a woman falls in love with the boss' son of the advertising agency "Broda & Broda".
It is a typical girls show, so for everyone who has already enough of that shouldn't continue to read ;-)

Like I wrote before it is a typical girls show:
Anna is a young woman who is so extremly shy that she can't talk to anybody except family and friends without starting to stutter.
At the beginning of the show she is working at the restaurant of her mother, but Anna's real dream is to start at the advertising agency Broda & Broda. At first she is totally motivated to get the job, but when the moment of the interview comes she panickes and couldn't say a word.

But one day she got a little lucky and finally get a job she wanted or not wanted. But with working there trouble comes too and so all her story starts. Everytime she thought she is doing something right her younger sister intervenes and tells everyone that Anna is the one who is doing all things wrong. If only the people all around them knew what was really going on...
Will she get the young man she was falling in love with or will he just think that Anna is a total fraud?
I guess you just have to start to watch the series to find out.

You will find the first episode here.

Anna und die Liebe (Anna and the love) is a typical series for girls, but it also has some serios topics as well, for example being extremly shy, being an illiterate, losing your husband/wife or being innocent in prison. So I supose everyone else could watch the series too only because the topics around them are interesting enough to stay tuned to the TV series.

But not only this things you will see on the show: you will get an insight of an advertising agency too with all its intrgues and all the drama the people show in there.
(To everyone who wants to work at an
advertising agency: lucky for you there won't be any intrigues like on the show ;-) )

So I hope you may watch the show and enjoy it, like I did in the past and even now!

Pumuckl - Review

Today's review is about a little guy that everyone in Austria and Germany knows:

Pumuckl

How can I describe that little guy? It's simple:

Pumuckl was a little red head goblin who was probably a thousand year old, even if he didn't look like that. He was a really funny "boy" who wanted to see the world and wanted to know everything, almost like a young child.

Well, the story started on a beautiful day when the carpenter Franz Eder worked on a cupboard for one of his clients. But for him it is not an ordinary day, because every five minutes something disappeared and he started to think he was going crazy. After a while Franz started to hear some noises that sounded like a mouse. He wondered very much because he didn't have any mice.

All of the sudden a liitle guy with red hairs appeared in front of Franz Eder who was very suprised. For seconds they were looking at each other. Then the story of this two special friends began.

The little goblin explained to Franz that he could only be seen by the person who sees him first and no one else, says the law of the goblins and from that moment on they had a lot of moments of joy and sometimes even tears, but a lot of anger (from Franz's side) too because Pumuckl didn't always listened to the carpenter.

All in all you will find a lot of nice stories about Pumuckl and Franz Eder on Youtube because the sad thing about it is that the television isn't showing the series anymore. The other sad thing is that the main character of Franz Eder (Gustl Bayrhammer) already died in 1993 which makes the Show Pumuckl his legacy.

The good thing is, that there is not only the television show with Gustl Bayrhammer, there are also three movies that includes the redhead goblin and Gustl Bayrhammer and Towje Kleiner.

The produers of the show even tried a little series with Pumuckl and a ship's cook. The viewers didn't like it much, but I think it is still a nice idea, that should be watched by the public.

If you want to make your own impression of the show Pumuckl you can watch it here:

Pumuckl - Spuk in der Werkstatt

Pumuckls neue Abenteuer

You and your kids will love the show!

I hope you enjoy it!

James Bond: Gold Finger (1964) - Review

This time around we look back at the older films as we re-live the 1960s again by covering a James Bond movie for the second time in this magazine. The 3rd installment "Gold Finger" is a British spy film starring Sean Connery who reprises his role as the main character 007. It is based on the novel of the same name by Ian Fleming. The movie also happened to be the first of four Bond films directed by Guy Hamilton. The first 2 Bond films had mainly focused on the Caribbean and Europe so the team chose to focus on the American audience as a way of developing a different story.

With a budget of $3 million equal to the budget of the 2 preceding films, the movie grossed over $124.9 million in the box office. The blockbuster movie was officially released on the 18th of September 1964 which makes it exactly 52 years since it was brought to our screens. Goldfinger had much influence that the use of the Aston Martin DB5 car in the movie led to the toy of the same model being the biggest seller of that year.
In addition to that, many of the elements introduced in the movie appeared in several of the later 007 films, such as the use of gadgets and technology.

The Hangover - Review

The Hangover is a 2009 American comedy film directed by Todd Phillips. The title itself is one to make you curious in what kind of events occur in the movie. Jon Lucas and Scot Moore were writers of the script which was inspired by an incident that happened to the executive producer Chris Bender's friend in which he disappeared leading up to his wedding. Lucas and Moore sold the script to Warner Bros for $2 million. The script was re-written by Philips and Jeremy Garelick in which they added more events and characters such as Mike Tyson and his tiger. The 3 main main characters (Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis) had been casual acquaintances beforehand but after filming of the movie, they formed a real relationship.

Leading up to the release, the film had so much hype as it was something new on offer comedy wise. It was finally released on June 5, 2009, and was a critical and commercial success with a 79% rating on rotten tomatoes. With a budget of $35 million, The Hangover became the tenth-highest-grossing film of that year, grossing over $467 million in the box office worldwide. The film received multiple accolades including the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. The success of the movie led to sequels in 2011 and 2013 which were also box office hits. It is also said that Lindsay Lohan turned down the role of Jade stating that she didn't see the potential in the movie but would then go on to regret it.

Transformers - Review

If you were ever a fan of Transformers at a young age then the prospect of it becoming a film must've been exciting. The development of the film project began in 2003 with Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto who were joined by Steven Spielberg a year later. Steven went on to hire Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman to write the screenplay. In 2005, Michael Bay was approached in order for him to direct the movie but was reluctant at first because he couldn't see it's real potential but eventually accepted due to Steven Spielberg also being part of the team. Several money taking measures were taken in order to reduce the budget of the film including Michael Bay reducing his usual fee by 30% and The U.S Armed Forces and General Motors lending vehicles and aircraft during filming. Despite the attempts made to save money, the film still cost approximately $150 million.

The movie starred Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel and Megan Fox among other notable faces. June 3 saw the release of the film which grossed $709 milion worldwide. Transformers received mixed to positive reviews from critics and fans including a rating of 57% on rotten tomatoes based on 219 reviews. The movie was also the fifth highest-grossing film of 2007 which earned it the worth to have a sequel which would be scheduled for 2009.

Night at the Museum - Review

Surely we all remember the one and only Robin Williams. It's exactly 2 years since he passed away and we felt it was important for us to honour such a legend by doing a review on one of his movies at this point. We rewind back to 10 years ago when we were introduced to the first installment of the American fantasy-comedy film Night at the Museum which of course starred Robin Williams along side Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. The film which was based on the 1993 children's book of the same name by Milan Trenc and was directed by Shawn Levy. The movie had a budget of $110 million and was released on 22 December 2006 going on to gross over $574.5 million in the box office.

It follows a divorced father (Ben Stiller) trying all his best to settle down in order to impress his son and find his true calling. He applies for a job as a night watchman at New York's American Museum of Natural History and in turn finds out that the exhibits, animated by a magical Egyptian artifact, come to life at night.

The movie received several nominations for different awards including the 2007 Teen Choice Awards and the 2007 MTV Movie Awards. Based on 131 reviews the film had received a 44% rating on rotten tomatoes. On April 2, 2007, the film was released on a 2-Disc DVD edition with the Blu-ray format coming a few weeks later. Following the movie's success, a sequel titled Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian was released on May 22, 2009 in North America. The third and final installment, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, was released on December 19, 2014 in North America.

Jason Bourne - Review

This might be the best time to feature Matt Damon as the release of the new Jason Bourne film is upon us. It all started with The Bourne Identity directed by Doug Liman in 2002. The American-German spy action thriller film adaptation of Robert Ludlum's novel of the same name focused on the main character "Jason Bourne" a former CIA assassin suffering from amnesia and searching for his roots.

A sequel was made following the success of The Bourne Identity which grossed $214 million in the box office. The Bourne Supremacy was presented to us and showed a different side to our favourite character following the death of his girlfriend killed in India. Beating himself up for her death, he set out to uncover the whole operation that was known as "treadstone".

The Bourne Ultimatum completed the trilogy in what was thought to be the last at the time. Centered mostly in London, it was about Bourne getting closer and closer to his source and when it all started for him. Paul Greengrass who had directed the previous movie returned for his role as the director of the movie which was Matt Damon's highest grossing movie as the lead at that time ranking in $442.8 million from a budget of $110 million.

The Bourne Legacy was the fourth installment directed by Tony Gilroy. The film only featured Jason Bourne as a principal character as Matt Damon decided not to return for that particular project. Instead, the film centered on black ops agent Aaron Cross (played by Jeremy Renner). Released August 10, 2012, the movie was not as successful as it's predecessors despite still making a profit of more than $150 million in the box office.

Fast forward to 2016, Jason Bourne is back after years of absence. Paul Greengrass returns as the director having also written the script as Christopher Rouse reprises his role as the editor as well. It is the 5th installment of the series and Matt Damon is back playing his role as the main character, a former CIA assassin Jason Bourne. The film continues it's story line of Jason Bourne trying to uncover the hidden truths about his past, now remembering who he truly is. Starring alongside Matt Damon are Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel, Julia Stiles and Riz Ahmed. London saw the movie being premiered on 11 July 2016, almost a year after it had been filmed. The film is set to be released on July 29, 2016 in United States by Universal Picture.

Hours - Review

This time I want to present you a nice and lovely movie that never made it into the cinemas: Hours with Paul Walker.

The movie is about a small family around Nolan (Paul Walker) and Abigal ( Génesis Rodriguez) who is expecting a child. One day Abigal is in labour. The bad thing about it is that it is five weeks to soon. The couple rushes to the hospital and she gives birth to the child.
As soon as the kid was born some complications are shown to Abigal and for that she sadly dies. At first Nolan doesn't believe the doctor which is a normal reaction after losing a beloved person. After a moment being with his dead wife he sees his new born girl for the first time. His first reaction was that he doesn't know her.
Because the little child was born to soon she has to be on a lung ventilator for 48 hours and after this time she should be able to breath on her own.

The worst thing about it? The whole story happens during Hurricane Katrina and so all the bad things start to happen to Nolan. Will he be able to save his little girl after he already lost his wife?

I won't tell you that now because this movie is a must to see. Not only for all Paul Walker fans but for everyone else who wants to see a nice little traimovie.

This movie is one of Paul Walkers last movies and you can clearly see that he put so much effort into it and at the end of it all a great film came out of it that sadly never made it to the cinemas and came out directly on dvd and blu ray.
It is a little sad that it never came out to the cinemas or got more attention. It is such a lovely movie that you wouldn't miss the chance to see it for yourself. The story behind it may be a little sad, but you can see a Paul Walker who could also play other fantastic roles than just the one we all knew him to play.

I think everyone who was a fan of the actor clearly wants to see Hours. It is one of the finest movies I have seen from him (besides Fast & Furious). So don't miss it and get inspired by this review and watch the movie for yourself.
Get a first taste with the trailer.

You won't regret it!
